On 22nd May 2016 my husband and I welcomed into the world a beautiful baby girl Olivia.
Sadly soon after she was born it became apparent that all was not well and at 1 day old she lost her fight and passed away.

I first contacted Dumfries and Galloway Sands around 3 weeks after we lost Olivia and since then they have proved to be essential in our journey and learning to live with our loss.

The heartache and despair of losing a child can be quite isolating but meeting other families who have experienced similar loss can provide some comfort. Speaking to others who understand how you are feeling and can empathise with the complete shock and devastation of your baby dying is invaluable.

2 years after Olivia died I did my befriender training, I wanted to give something back to the amazing group who had provided so much support and comfort at the worst time of our lives.

I wanted to offer this support to other bereaved families and if I can give even one person the same comfort, it is worth it.

It means so much to be able to do this while honouring Olivia and keeping her memory alive.

The Sands Bereavement Support app was created for anyone who has experienced the death of a baby
