Ashley Kerr
Hi my name is Ashley and I have only recently completed my Befriender training.
On 22nd May 2016 my husband and I welcomed into the world a beautiful baby girl Olivia. Olivia was born after a relatively peaceful pregnancy and was a long awaited sibling for our son.
Sadly soon after she was born it became apparent that all was not well and at 1 day old she lost her fight and passed away.
I first contacted Dumfries and Galloway Sands around 3 weeks after we lost Olivia and since then they have proved to be essential in our journey and learning to live with our loss.
The heartache and despair of losing a child can be quite isolating but meeting other families who have experienced similar loss can provide some comfort. Speaking to others who understand how you are feeling and can empathise with the complete shock and devastation of your baby dying is invaluable.
It would be lovely to say that Sands isnt needed but sadly it is and were so fortunate to have the charity in this area.
The Sands Bereavement Support app was created for anyone who has experienced the death of a baby
