New Cold Mat & Moses Basket for Cresswell

Thanks to a generous donation made earlier this year by Debbie and Gordon MacDonald, we have at last been able to purchase a cold mat and Moses basket for Cresswell.

Debbie and Gordon organised a games day at the Normandy in Troqueer in memory of their little girl Freya who was stillborn October 2011 and thanks to the generosity of their friends, family and patrons of the Normandy managed to raise an amazing  £5,500.

On handing the money over to ourselves, Debbie and Gordon asked that it be used to purchase another cold cot for Cresswell since they were both so grateful for the extra time the cold cot allowed them to spend with Freya.  After discussions with Cresswell it was decided that there wasn’t really a need for a second cold cot but the purchase of a cold mat would be very much appreciated.

A cold mat gives parents the opportunity to take their baby home and therefore allow them and other family members to spend more, much treasured, precious time with their baby.  The system is a portable unit with the mat sitting in a Moses basket or cot and is easy for parents to take home and set up themselves.  We decided to buy a Moses basket as well so they can be kept together, all set up and ready for use.

Thank you once again to Debbie and Gordon.
