2012 AGM Report
The Queensferry Hotel was an ideal location for this year’s AGM and Members’ Conference with the theme of Building Bridges as it has dramatic views of the bridges over the Forth. Everyone was greeted at the hotel entrance by the piper then Jenny Callaghan – Chair, Fife SANDS welcomed everyone. Kate Anker – Chair, Sands Board of Trustees lead the business of the AGM and Neal Long – Chief Executive spoke of the growth of Sands over the last year.
Dr Alan Mathers: Clinical Director of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Greater Glasgow and Clyde NHS updated all assembled about the progress of the Scottish Stillbirth Group. Ann McMurray: Sands Scotland Coordinator then spoke about her position creating bridges to link the Scottish groups. This was followed by Robert Gassner of Fife Sands giving a very emotional account of his personal story.
Jenny and Clare shared the successes of Fife Sands. Ashley Morgan – Head of Finance and Fundraising spoke about her position within Sands and discussed the improvements in getting money back to the groups as well as changes to the online shop. Steven Guy-Sands Northern Ireland Coordinator encouraged everyone to consider facilitating the extremely worthwhile and wide reaching training for health professionals. Our very own Alison Hall then shared her positive experiences of dealing with the media.
Everyone was then entertained by a Scottish Country Dancer and enjoyed a gift of shortbread.
Well done to Fife Sands for organising the day.
