Dedication Ceremony – Glebe Cemetery Stranraer
Alison and Susan travelled through to Stranraer on Tuesday to attend the dedication ceremony for the new baby sculpture and bench that Dumfries and Galloway Sands have had placed at the Glebe Cemetery in Stranraer.
The weather couldn’t have been more perfect and after a few words of welcome from Alison, the dedication ceremony took place, conducted by the Rev Ian McIlroy from The High Kirk of Stranraer. Gill Deay, midwife, also said a few words and invited everyone back to the Clenoch for tea, coffee and some cake.
Our thanks go to John Brodie from the Council for assisting us in finding the perfect place for the bench and sculpture, to the builders from the Council who put them in place, to Lynda Burns baby sculpture artist, to the late Norrie for the beautiful bench, to Gill Deay, Midwife for organising everything and to Rev McIlroy for his lovely words on the day.
It was lovely to see the bench and baby sculpture in such a beautiful setting and it is hoped that bereaved parents will find the area a peaceful and beautiful place to remember their babies.
